Resolutions for igniting our spirits!!

 

In the last blog post I proposed that rather than making resolutions out of guilt, obligation or duty we should resolve to do some things that we truly LOVE!!

 

After all we are never going to keep a resolution if we don’t truly, truly enjoy it and lets be honest, life is tricky enough without adding to our daily pressures.

 

It is so important that we understand that making ourselves happy isn’t selfish, it is essential and we are are so much more helpful, loving, supportive and stronger when we are happy ourselves.

 

Who agrees?

 

In this series of blogs I am going to focus on ways that we can resolve to do wonderful, exciting, uplifting things for BODY, MIND & SPIRIT.

 

(It is also worth adding a little reminder here that every day is a new day and you don’t have to wait until the 1st of January to start feeling good!!)

 

So….. lets focus on….our spirits/souls/inner beings.

 

How much of our time do we spend just ‘going through the motions’. We cram so much into each day that we can forget what it feels like to feel truly exhilarated and alive.

 

Of course there are always going to be routine things that we need to do in our day but why don’t we resolve to make igniting our spirit part of our routine?!

 

Now is a really good time to grab a bit of paper and scribble down some answers to the following questions:

  • When do you feel the most alive?

  • What aspect of yourself would you like to explore more?

  • What connection do you have with your own intuition?

  • Who do you feel the most connected and alive around?

  • Is there a form of spiritual practice you would like to begin or expand upon?

 

Now for each of these answers lets think about how to develop these into a more regular part of your life.

For example:

  • If you feel the most alive when you are dancing around with your children, why not put a time in the diary each week when you can do this for 20 mins

  • Would you like to explore the fact that you are quite creative but haven’t created anything for a long time- perhaps you could book a no-pressure creativity class or meet up with your crafty pal.

  • Are you aware of your intuition? If not why not? If yes then how can you become more aware? Perhaps you could connect more with your inner voice by 5/10 min meditation moments when you get the chance.

  • Do you feel the most connected and alive around a particular person that inspires you? If so why not arrange a coffee together or a skype call and you can tell them you feel this way. Perhaps you could talk regularly. I guarantee they will love to have heard this from you!

  • Do you have a spiritual practice? If yes, is there a new aspect of this you can add to your regular practice ? If no, maybe consider what could work for you in this area. Perhaps a beginners meditation class could offer you a invaluable stepping stone to connect with yourself.
