Resolutions- BODY LOVE

In the last blog post I proposed that rather than making resolutions out of guilt, obligation or duty we should resolve to do some things that we truly LOVE!!

After all we are never going to keep a resolution if we don’t truly, truly enjoy it and lets be honest, life is tricky enough without adding to our daily pressures.

It is so important that we understand that making ourselves happy isn’t selfish, it is essential and we are are so much more helpful, loving, supportive and stronger when we are happy ourselves.

Who agrees?

In this series of blogs I am going to focus on ways that we can resolve to do wonderful, exciting, uplifting things for BODY, MIND & SPIRIT.

(It is also worth adding a little reminder here that every day is a new day and you don’t have to wait until the 1st of January to start feeling good!!)

So….. lets focus on….our bodies.

Lots of us have a complex and difficult relationship with our bodies and often a lot of our resolutions resolve around weight loss and changing something about our bodies.  Wanting to make a change and become healthier is of course a positive but looking at the body we already have in a negative way can start off our resolution with unnecessary pressure and discomfort.

Instead lets not think about what we don’t like, but really have a good old moment to think about what we truly love doing that is also good for our body. I personally don’t get any true joy from the gym, so I’m not going to resolve myself to going!! It really is as simple as that! If you don’t love it , don’t do it.

Think a bit deeper and remember what feels really good for you. Do you love walking with the dog? If you do, then maybe aim to do that for 10 more minutes a day - or whatever feels right for you. Do you love dancing? Find somewhere where you can do this and why not get a pal involved too? Do you absolutely love getting a deep tissue massage but very rarely prioritise this? Well….why not start treating your body with a little more respect and listen to what it loves. What about that lush meal you used to make that you really, really enjoyed eating - why not make the effort to have that again once a month? What about that gorgeous moisturiser someone bought you once that made your skin feel heavenly - perhaps you could prioritise getting yourself a little treat this year and then every time you smell the lush smell you will know that you have done that for YOU!

Your resolution to care for your body should be something exciting and a pleasure to look forward to. If you want to change something, make sure the change is something you love!!

Scribble down a few ideas and see what you come up with! I would really like to hear about what you love too and it may inspire others so please comment or message if you are happy to share :)

Please keep your eyes peeled for the following blogs about how we can all do some bloody brilliant things for ourselves without guilt, stress, pressure or duty.

Lots of love to you all,
