Top tips for getting healthy skin, naturally :) xxx

March 5, 2017

We all want glowy, beautiful skin don’t we? Not all of us can afford expensive face creams that promise miracles but there are some things that we can all take into account to keep our skin healthy and happy.

What are the baddies that can have a mega impact on our skin?

  • Diet – this is by far the most important factor in skin health – every cell in the body, including skin cells is built from the food we eat. A diet of quality, natural foods will create healthy skin, whereas a diet of processed junk, too much salt, sugar, alcohol and smoking will create puffy, saggy, dull skin prone to irritation.

  • Chemical exposure – think about all the different chemicals in all the different handwashes you use in a day. Sometimes our skin can become overwhelmed trying to process all these different man made products.

  • Smoking – this really ages the skin due to a number of different factors such as dehydration and chemical exposure.

  • Lack of sleep – the mind and body need rest to be able to relax, rejuvenate and ultimately function at their best abilities.

  • Indoor life – our skin was created to be exposed to the elements, which of course we cannot do all the time without being arrested! It is worth considering though that central heating and air conditioning have a drying effect on the skin, making it prone to ill health and wrinkles so open up those windows for a bit of fresh air and to brighten your complexion.

  • Make-up – be particular about which make-up you use and how much. Skin struggles to breathe properly if it is coated in a heavy layer of make-up. For optimum skin health go to bed bare faced and if life without make-up is unimaginable (myself included!) opt for natural make up. There are companies which use earth pigments and natural waxes J

Ok so that all sounds like a load of negatives doesn’t it. Well do not panic, if you can change just one thing, such as swap your powder for a more natural one then you are being kinder to your skin. Make small changes where you can and they will all add up xxx

So how can we create beauty from within? By feeding our skin!

The skin reflects what is going on in the body, so if there is puffiness, premature ageing, spots or even diseases, then its time to look within and detoxify the body back to health.

Here are some general tips for healthy skin:

  • Drink 2 litres of water a day

  • Cut down on tea and coffee

  • Cut right back on alcohol (waa!) – at the very least swap to organic alcohol

  • Include raw foods- incorporate uncooked fruit and veg into your diet and watch your skin glow

  • Eat the rainbow – colourful foods have the most beauty nutrients!

  • Be super – try to eat as many superfoods as you can!

  • Essential fatty acids – naturally present in most raw nuts and seeds help keep the skin supple and smooth

  • BE HAPPY!! Don’t you think even the most beautiful person in the world can look unattractive if they are miserable or scowling. There is nothing more attractive and beautiful than someone who is
