Free & Cheap Ideas to Spoil Your Mum this Mothers Day xx

February 22, 2017

If you are lucky enough to still have a treasured mum then why not give her the recognition she deserves this mothers day :)

It is creeping up (Sun 26th March) so why not have a little read of these lovely ideas that your gorgeous mumma may love:

Get outside! If possible why not go on a walk or picnic together, it’s wonderful to enjoy nature together and as we all know, getting fresh air boosts our feel-good hormones.

Make her some homemade skincare products. This can be so cheap, so simple, and of course you can tailor the scents to her favourite aromas.

If you are stuck for ideas why not try making this:

Vanilla Velvet Honey Lip Balm

This rich and soothing balm can be used all year round. It doubles as a mild anti-bacterial ointment when applied to cuts and scrapes and helps prevent scarring.

1 tablespoon of honey (local where possible)

1 tablespoon soybean or almond base oil

1 ½ teaspoons of beeswax

5 drops of vanilla essential oil

In a small saucepan over low heat, warm oil, honey and beeswax until the wax is just melted.

Remove from the heat, add the essential oil and stir to blend. Set the pan in a shallow ice-water bath. Using a whisk or a spoon, stir rapidly for 30 – 60 seconds until the honey is incorporated and the formula is like thick peanut butter. It will be a pale yellow-brown colour.

Spoon the mixture into storage containers and cap. Let the mixture set for 2 hours before use.

No refrigeration is required, but for maximum freshness and taste please use within 1 year.

Bake her fave cake! Just think how many times your mum has made a cake for you in her life! What a perfect time to repay the favour! With it being springtime too there are a number of beautiful and edible spring flowers you can decorate the cake with (plus it’s so easy!). If you are feeling mega fancy you can crystallise primroses and violets and they look adorable!

Book her a gorgeous relaxation treatment. There is just something about mums which involves putting everyone else before themselves, well now it’s her time to chill! Why not book her in for a lovely soothing massage or facial, or if you don’t want to miss out you could always come together!

Make her favourite tipple! Whether it be a lovely refreshing G and T or a luxurious creamy hot choc, get your mumma to put her feet up while you bring her her fave little indulgence  :)

Ooh I'm craving a G & T now!
