Natural remedies for migraine relief xxx

Do you suffer with migraines?

If so, you are not alone, it is estimated that one in five women suffer from recurrent migraines, a condition characterised by intense headaches behind the eyes and temples. They can occur at any time of day and can last anywhere between a few hours to a couple of days.

I myself have suffered badly with migraines in the past and as well as being so horribly painful they are just hugely inconvenient. We simply don’t have the time to have 2 days off work; we still have to look after the children, house, pets. There is no place for migraines in our busy lives!!

Well what can we do about it?

Of course you can be prescribed long-term painkillers and this might be the best option for you. For me however, avoiding chemicals is fantastic if I can and I have often found that high strength painkillers actually end up making me feel much worse and impact other things like my tummy.

So if like me you would prefer to take a more natural, yet still highly effective approach then here are a few simple solutions.

  • Lavender oil can be inhaled or applied topically to ease the pain: add four drops to a cup of hot water and breathe in the vapours or use neat on the temples.

  • Certain foods can have an impact on your migraines and the frequency and severity of them. It is so so useful to go and have a food intolerance test and find out which foods it is best for you to avoid. I had this done in Redruth at www.foodintolerancecornwall.co.uk and can highly recommend it.

  • DIY scalp massages can be an effective way to alleviate pain. Researchers in Brazil found that massaging the greater occipital nerve reduces migraine pain.

  • Reflexology has also been hailed as a great way to find relief.

I really hope this may help some of you as migraines really are a horrible thing to suffer with. Of course we can help you as well if you feel you need a little extra relaxation. We can provide Indian Head Massages, Reflexology and Aromatherapy all specifically tailored to your individual needs.

Take care,

Lots of love and kind regards, Kirst XXX
