How to beat insomnia without medication

Do you suffer with insomnia? If so you will understand how disruptive it can be. It can leave you feeling exhausted, anxious, stressed along with affecting your emotional and physical well being in many other ways.


Sadly, the average adult will spend an hour and 30 minutes lying awake on three nights each week according to new research. It is also found that women lose more sleep than men on average.


If you have ever been to the doctors for your insomnia you will know that they are likely to prescribe you with sleeping tablets, many of which are well known to have addictive qualities and are of course full of chemicals.


If you fancy a more holistic approach then that's wonderful as there are plenty of healthy, natural alternatives.


There are a number of gorgeous essential oils that have been proven to reduce the symptoms of insomnia such as lavender, chamomile, marjoram, rose and sandalwood (there are lots of others!).


There are a number of ways you can use these oils such as a few drops on your pillow or in your bath, however the most effective is through the skin.


Ooooh... what would be the nicest way of administering this ?! A full body aromatherapy massage of course! Not only is this a great idea because the oils are absorbed through the skin and can get to work but also massage is fantastic in itself for insomnia.


Massage helps to release stress, anxiety and negative emotion but it also promotes a sense of balance, physical and mental calm, and an overall relaxation of the body and mind.
